Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Alcatraz Island Jail Break and Death Valley Burn.

The Alcatraz Island Jail Break withstood an impressive performance by Death Valley center fielder Alex García to defeat the Burn, 5-3, at The Rock. García was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Alcatraz Island reliever Cecil Ellis picked up the win to move to 7-5. Hamilton Hill suffered the loss. Scott Jenkins closed the game out for Alcatraz Island, earning his 39th save.

The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Carl Phelps came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Death Valley pitcher Corbin Jenkins, he hit a 2-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Alcatraz Island on top, 4-3.

Alcatraz Island manager Justin Fusco commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."

The victory gives the Jail Break a record of 77-62.
