In a close game at The Chicken Coop, the Richmond Ravens edged the Amarillo Chicken Haulers, 4-3. Richmond center fielder Kevin Rogers stood apart with his performance. He was 3-4 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win was credited to 24-year old right-handed pitcher Steve Robinson in relief. His record improves to 2-8. Victor West took the loss. Richmond is now 70-73, Amarillo 72-70.
Had Rogers not come through in the top of the ninth, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Rogers hit a run-scoring single. The Ravens took the lead, 4-3, and never looked back.
Rogers called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
