Orlando Rallies for 4-1 Victory

The Rum Runners grabbed a win, 4-1, at Welsh Field, overcoming a fine effort from Vermont pitcher John Hill. Hill went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Brent Pugh snagged the win in relief. He goes to 7-9 on the season. Gabriel Beltrán suffered the loss. Greg Douglas, who finished 4th in the AP in saves with 39 in 2063, nailed down the save.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the eighth, with the game tied, Paul O'Brian was at the plate when Orlando scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Rum Runners to go in front, 2-1.
"Clutch hitting plus clutch pitching usually equals a win," said O'Brian.
Orlando is now 66-75, Vermont 60-83.
