Monuments Rough Up Storm, 9-1
|
Washington center fielder Wally Williams helped his team beat the West Island Storm, 9-1. Williams, who is tied for 10th in the AP in stolen bases with 28, went 2 for 4 for the Monuments. Washington has now won 3 in a row.
Tony Alexander drove in one run for Washington. The 27-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jack Heygate. It was his 26th RBI of the season.
Said losing manager Matthew Tietz: "Obviously, we wished for a better outcome."
