Monuments Drop Close One Late
|
The Michigan Militia did just enough to secure a victory over the Washington Monuments, 4-3, in 14 innings at The Grand Lodge. Nobody did more than pitcher John Johns. Juan Solís, who is a two-time All-Star, picked up the win in relief. Tim MacGruder took the loss for Washington. Michigan has a record of 13-13.
José Acevedo came through with a big-time hit for Michigan. The first baseman smacked a solo home run in the top of the 14th inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"This game showed the grit and grind of our guys," said Acevedo.
