Win Makes Railbirds 21-7
|
Right-hander Adrián Jiménez mesmerized the Philadelphia Cheesesteaks while leading the Reading Railbirds to a 1-0 victory. The winning pitcher was Jiménez, now 4-0. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 6. Juan Gallardo earned the save for Reading, his 3rd of the year.
Greg Taylor drew 1 walk for Reading. The two-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring walk off Ralph McCormick. It was his 3rd walk of the season.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Jiménez.
The win brings the Railbirds to 21-7, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
