Outlaws Improve to 14-13 with 3-2 Win
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Ozark Outlaws and the Minneapolis Maulers, pitcher Matt Thompson was the difference between victory and defeat. The Ozark right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Outlaws win. Thompson, the winner, moves to 3-1. He threw 5.1 innings of 1-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up 2 walks. Bill Henderson got the save, the 2nd for him this season.
Ozark first baseman Ed Evans contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 25th hit of the season and put the Outlaws ahead, 3-0.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Thompson told reporters after the game.
The victory makes Ozark 14-13.
