The 2071 season is off to a poor start for the St. Paul Bearers. The Bearers fell to the visiting Reading Railbirds, 9-1, at Casket County Stadium. Carlos Caro earned the coveted player the game award for Reading. Caro, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up no walks.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Harvey Gregg? The Reading third baseman had a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Railbirds on top, 3-0. For the game, Gregg had 2 doubles and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Gregg.
