The Newark Falcons downed the Iowa Crop Circles, 5-1, at The Cornfield. Stellar pitching by Francisco Chapa had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who finished 5th in the AP in innings pitched with 205.0 in 2073, handcuffed his opponent all game. Chapa got the win, improving to 2-3. He gave up 2 hits and walked 1 over 6.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. The victory makes Newark 18-14, as the team seeks a return to the playoffs in 2077.

Newark won the game in part because of Brian Peña. The second baseman ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Falcons ahead, 2-0. For the game, Peña had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
