Bearers Suffer 6-3 Home Defeat

The St. Paul Bearers could not turn a fine performance from catcher Robbie Colón into a win. Instead, the Washington Monuments prevailed, 6-3. Colón went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The win was credited to John Souza in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Martin Walker took the loss. Glenn León, who finished 2nd in the AP in wins with 17 in 2075, nailed down the save.
Had Matt Alcorn not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Alcorn hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Monuments.
Alcorn attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
The triumph makes Washington 18-13, as the team begins another long trek toward the playoffs in 2077.
