Mexico City got a terrific game from second baseman Mitch Spence. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Death Valley, 7-5. Spence went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The Burn improved their record to 16-20 with the win over Mexico City.

Sergio López had a big solo home run for the Burn in the top of the sixth inning. With Death Valley leading 3-2 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from former first round draft pick Emílio Castaneda and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Burn on top, 4-2.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," López told a Death Valley Daily News reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
