Ridge Raptors Squelch Mashers Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Redstone Ridge Raptors got a magnificent performance from pitcher Leonard Johnston, who muffled the Crab Apple Cove offense en route to a tight, 3-0 Ridge Raptors win at Vargas Field. Johnston got the win, improving to 4-1. He gave up 5 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. He allowed no runs. The Ridge Raptors have an impressive 22-14 record.
Rod Malone, who finished 5th in the FR in hits with 190 last year, had a direct impact on the outcome. Malone contributed a 2-run single in the top of the third inning to put Redstone up, 2-0.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Malone said after the game.
