Bearers 6-5 Victors Over Mexico City
|
Though he had a terrific game, Francisco Olivares could not prevent his team, the Mexico City Diablos, from absorbing a loss. St. Paul won the game, 6-5. Olivares was 1 for 2 with a home run, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Jermaine Bennett earned the save, his 9th. St. Paul is now 17-20, while Mexico City is 18-22.
Martin Tucker, who is tied for 2nd in the FR in bases on balls with 23, chipped in a run-scoring sacrifice fly for St. Paul in the top of the third. For the game, the shortstop had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Mexico City manager Brandon T. "But we decided not to take it."
