2-1 Loss Deepens Michigan Funk
|
Keg Creek starter Gerald Casey put a stranglehold on the Michigan offense. The left-hander had complete command of his curveball in leading the Coyotes to a 2-1 win. Casey got the win, improving to 6-2. He allowed 6 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. Casey allowed 1 run. Júlio Ortíz got the save, the 16th for him this season.
Donald Hawkins made an early impact for Keg Creek when he stroked his 18th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which came with no one out in the bottom of the first, put the Coyotes on top, 2-0.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Keg Creek manager Jay Kunstler said.
The first-place Coyotes have won 4 consecutive games.
