Reading Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
|
The Reading Railbirds picked up a win at Schuylkill Landing Park, dropping the Mexico City Diablos, 6-5. Adrián Jiménez, who finished 4th in the FR in ERA with 2.78 in 2072, was the difference-maker. Stan Webb, who led the FR in saves with 42 in 2067, picked up the win in relief. Amado Ortíz took the loss for Mexico City. At 24-22, the Railbirds are currently first in the Frontier Northern.
Reading got a knockout punch from Sherman Parks. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"This wasn't a good win," said Parks. "It was a great win."
