Cheesesteaks Earn 7-0 Home Win
|
Philadelphia Cheesesteaks starter Wynn Frizzell kept the Laredo Border Jumpers hitters in check, leading his team to a comfortable 7-0 win. Today's win puts Philadelphia at 24-20, while Laredo falls to 19-28.
Allan Schneider had a big 2-run double for the Cheesesteaks in the bottom of the third inning. With Philadelphia leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Jon Gilmore, who finished 3rd in the AP in innings pitched with 246.2 in 2066, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 8th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cheesesteaks ahead, 3-0.
Said losing manager Kelly Mo: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
