Starting pitcher Mike Kern pitched well enough to help the Minneapolis Maulers beat the Orlando Rum Runners, 7-6. Kern, now 2-7, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 3 runs. The win puts the Maulers at 20-26, while the Rum Runners drop to 25-19.

The Maulers got a big hit from right fielder Brad Coleman. In the top of the seventh, Coleman pounded a solo home run to left. His 4th home run of the season put the Maulers ahead, 7-1.
