Outlaws Use Late Score to Top Monuments, 2-1
|
The Washington Monuments could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Arturo Báez into a win. Instead, the Ozark Outlaws prevailed, 2-1. Báez threw 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball. Paul Harris snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits over 1.2 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. Ricardo Pérez notched his 8th save of the season.
Ozark used the timely hitting of Trevor Lee to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Outlaws on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Bottom line," said Washington skipper Barry L, "we didn't play well enough to win."
Ozark is now 21-25, Washington 24-23.
