Mashers Get Clutch Win, 4-3
|
The Crab Apple Cove Mashers defeated the Glacier Bay Ice Pirates, 4-3, in 11 innings in Frontier action at Vargas Field. Crab Apple Cove pitcher Jeff Poe had a standout performance. At 29-20, the Mashers find themselves in second place in the Frontier Southern.
The defining moment came in the bottom of the 11th for Crab Apple Cove. That's when Rich Allen hit a run-scoring double off 34-year old right-handed pitcher Luis Villarreal to win the game. The home crowd went wild.
"Glad to see the fans get into it," said Allen.
