Iowa got a decent performance from pitcher Clyde Barfoot, but it wasn't enough to beat the St. Paul Bearers. St. Paul won the The Cornfield contest, 7-3. Barfoot threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. The setback makes Iowa 29-19.

St. Paul used a timely hit from Baby Ruth to get the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Bearers ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"There's a lot of passion in our clubhouse," said Ruth. "When we put it together we're a great ball club."
