Morrow Slugs Coyotes to 8-6 Win
|
Behind a fine performance from Alex Morrow, the Keg Creek Coyotes knocked off the Michigan Militia, 8-6. Morrow hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Coyotes. Picking up the win was Gerald Casey. He went 6.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits. The left--hander struck out 10 and walked 3. Júlio Ortíz was credited with the save for Keg Creek, his 16th of the season.
Keg Creek grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Morrow, who is tied for 10th in the AP with a .516 slugging percentage, hit a solo home run. His 11th home run of the season put the Coyotes out in front, 1-0.
Coyotes manager Jay Kunstler wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
Keg Creek, at 27-29, holds down second place in the Appalachian Northern.
