Minneapolis center fielder Sherman Petersen contributed to his team's 10-3 win over the Atlantic City Aces. Petersen, who is tied for 3rd in the AP with a .323 batting average, went 1 for 4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Maulers. Jeff McAfee, the winner, goes to 2-6. He allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with no walks and 4 strikeouts over 5.1 innings. Greg Douglas earned the save for Minneapolis, his 5th of the year.
With Minneapolis leading 4-1 in the top of the fourth, Petersen hit a knuckleball from Alberto Arroyo for a grand slam home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Maulers ahead, 8-1.
"It's a good day to be a fan after a win like that," Petersen told the Minneapolis Daily News.
Minneapolis, with the win, climbs to 16-41.
