Maulers Earn Late 3-2 Win
|
The Maulers earned a hard-fought, 3-2 win in 11 innings at MacLaren Stadium. To do so required withstanding a fine effort from Vermont pitcher Hoyt Murphy. Murphy went 8 innings and allowed no runs. The win boosted Minneapolis to 30-29.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Minneapolis third baseman Eric Ward, facing Edward Rascoe, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Maulers the 3-2 win.
"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Ward said in his postgame press conference.
