Ice Pirates Win, Move to Within 1 Game of Round 3
|
The Glacier Bay Ice Pirates moved to within one game of the Round 3, downing the visiting Reading Railbirds at Liquor Luge by a score of 5-1. Ice Pirates designated hitter Manuel Vega did some major damage. He went 2-3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win gives the Ice Pirates a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Round 2.
With the game tied, 1-1, in the bottom of the fifth, Vega had a key at-bat for Glacier Bay. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Vega hit a 2-run single off Dax McKames, making the score 3-1, Ice Pirates.
Glacier Bay manager Matt Lehrer praised his team's "energy."
Game 4 is scheduled for Tuesday at Schuylkill Landing Park in Reading.
