Militia Edge Vermont in Pitching Duel
|
Carlos Delgado pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Vermont Lake Monsters, despite Delgado's fine outing, dropped a 1-0 decision to the Michigan Militia at Welsh Field. Curt Wright picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed no runs on 5 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 6-7. The 4th-place Militia now have a win-loss record of 32-33.
It could have been a different outcome for Michigan, had it not been for Alba Chigi, the 27-year old first baseman . Chigi contributed a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put Michigan up, 1-0.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Chigi.
