The Washington Monuments got a superb performance from pitcher Matt Burkett. Still, it wasn't enough to beat West Island . The Storm won the game, 6-5. Burkett came in in relief and pitched to 16 batters. Chris Long earned the win for West Island . He lasted 5.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 4-6. The win lifted the West Island record to 36-33.
P.J. Allen helped out the West Island cause in the top of the fourth inning with a run-scoring double. For the game, the first baseman went 1-4 with a double.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Allen.
