Taváres Goes Deep 3 Times
Thursday, September 4th , 2070
Atlantic City Aces second baseman Rafael Taváres put on a dazzling display of power today at MacLaren Stadium against the Minneapolis Maulers. In the 10-1 Aces victory Taváres penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts.

"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Minneapolis manager Marty Marty Boeck said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well."

Along with his three home runs, the 37-year-old had 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored.

"Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Taváres said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."

Rafael Taváres hit a solo-shot off Jorge Martínez in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Dylan Shepard in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Joe Bishop in the 8th and struck out in the 9th.

So far this year Taváres is batting .227 with 14 home runs, 27 RBIs and 35 runs scored.
