Okubo Batters Ft Levenworth Big Time

5 hits in a game is a rare thing, but Flushing 's Masaharu Okubo made it happen against the Rock Crushers. Everything came together at the plate for the 27-year-old catcher as he collected 5 hits in 7 at-bats -- and helped the Falcons triumph, 7-6, at Ballpark of Glen Alpine.
"I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Okubo said after the game, "I had some real good at-bats. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em."
Masaharu Okubo hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, walked in the 9th, grounded out in the 11th, flied out in the 13th and singled in the 15th.
Thus far this year, Okubo is hitting .401 with 3 home runs, 31 RBIs and 24 runs scored.

Injury Sidelines Dan Green For Year

Dan Green of the Yellowknife Wolverines was injured in today's game against Don and had to be helped off the field by the trainers. The initial diagnosis is a damaged elbow ligament, and he is expected to be out for up to 13-14 months. It happened while Green was throwing a pitch. "It hurt a lot, to be honest. I just hope it heals soon and I can get back on the field."
In 17 starts this season, Green has rung up a 0-10 record and a 8.69 ERA.

Fightin' Squirrels Pitching Ravaged by Gardner

Sean Gardner said "it felt like taking batting practice" at Republic Ballpark, and it showed in the box score. The Key West first baseman had a fantastic 5-for-5 day against the Brighton Fightin' Squirrels, leading his club to victory, 6-2.
"I was seeing the ball very well and it was going just about anywhere I wanted," Gardner said later."
Sean Gardner hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and doubled in the 9th.
Hitting .351 to date, Gardner has 10 home runs and 49 RBIs. He has played in 52 games.
