Heredia Bangs 3 HR Against Yellowknife Thursday, July 21st , 2067 It's a rare event when a player hits three homers in a game and rarer still when he does it and loses. It happened at Ballpark of Bay Saint Louis today, as Paco Heredia of the Syracuse Solid Gold unloaded three times against the Yellowknife Wolverines but was still bumped off 11-10 by the Wolverines. "We were lucky to win today," said Yellowknife skipper . "You can't give up that many home runs and expect to win on a regular basis." For the game, the Syracuse second baseman had 3 hits in 3 at-bats, scored 3 times, and drove in 6. Heredia spoke to the writers in the postgame press room with mixed feelings, saying he was sad to lose but happy to be seeing the ball well. "I was just trying to swing early and often to give myself a chance," he said. "I let the pitcher supply all the power and try to figure out how to get the bat on the ball." Paco Heredia hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 2nd, walked in a run in the 3rd, walked in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 7th. This season Heredia is batting .266 with 54 hits, 5 home runs, 30 RBIs, 54 walks, .429 OBP and has scored 35 runs. He has played in 74 games. |
