Hawks Snap Castaneda's Streak at 27
Tuesday, August 11th , 2071
The Laramie Hawks did something to Alberto Castaneda no team had done for the last 27 games -- they stopped him, ending his consecutive-game hitting streak. Unfortunately, they couldn't do the same to the Rock Crushers, who came away with the 16-8 victory at Twins Ballpark.
"Hey, I knew it wasn't going to last forever," the 21-year-old shortstop said of the demise of his streak. "It was a good ride while it lasted."
This year Castaneda is batting .283 with 5 home runs and 66 RBIs. In 111 games he has scored 71 times.
