All went well for Dave Beck of the Mojave Woodrats as he pitched his team to a 9-0 shutout victory over the Virginia Sting, limiting them to 3 hits. In the postgame interview, both managers had glowing things to say about Beck on the day.

"Dave's got a good selection of pitches he can throw at a guy," said Woodrats manager . "He changes speed, gives different looks to different hitters. When he's on his game, he's quite a handful."

In the contest, the Mojave right-hander rang up 6 and surrendered 2 walks.

"He didn't give us any second chances," said Sting manager . "It's a guessing game with him and today we were always guessing wrong."

In 14 starts this year Beck has recorded a 8-5 record and a 1.85 ERA.
