Cabo San Lucas Shuts Out Cheyenne , 8-0

Hugh Shelton was in a mood to talk following the Cabo San Lucas Van Hagars contest against the Cheyenne Falcons, expounding to BNN reporters on his pitching philosophy. He had good reason to be excitable, having tossed a complete game shutout of the Falcons, 8-0.
"There are three important elements in pitching success: location, location, and location," Shelton said. "I was hitting my spots time and time again."
The right-hander blanked Cheyenne on a 3-hitter, allowing no walks and racking up 6 strikeouts.
This season, Shelton has compiled a 3-0 mark with a 0.25 ERA in 5 starts.

Monkeys End Austin Streak

It was the best of both worlds for the Coudersport Monkeys at Courageous Ballpark, as they defeated the Bethlehem Ironmen, 5-2, and also snapped Eric Austin's 22-game hitting streak. The 25-year-old Bethlehem starting pitcher failed to get a hit in 5 at-bats.
"Nothing personal against Austin, we just wanted to win the game," said Monkeys skipper . "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing."
When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Austin frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won."

Edgar Smacks 5 Hits for Red Terrors

Leonard Edgar was sizzling at the plate. In a game played at Spin Doctors Ballpark, the Raleigh first baseman blistered the Tequila Worms for 5 hits in 5 at-bats to pace his club to a good 17-4 victory.
"Edgar was too tough to get out," Worms skipper said in his postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too."
Leonard Edgar doubled in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Rafael Valdés in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 9th.
In 18 games this season, Edgar is batting .418 with 28 hits and 4 home runs. He has scored 19 runs and driven in 12.
