Chepkwony Goes 5-for-9
Even as a kid, Ajuma Chepkwony said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Ballpark of Lexington today, Chepkwony showed how well he learned that lesson.

The 24-year-old shortstop had 5 hits in 9 at-bats for the Raleigh Red Terrors, helping his team knock off the Saint Johns Moose by a score of 5-3.

"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did today."

Ajuma Chepkwony hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 8th, struck out in the 9th, grounded out in the 12th, singled in the 13th, grounded out in the 16th and doubled in the 18th.

So far this year Chepkwony is batting .298 with no home runs, 2 RBIs and 6 runs scored.
