Rancho Cucamonga Takes Round 1 in Deciding Game
The Round 1 went the distance before it all was said and done.

The Rancho Cucamonga Cucarachas and the Lancaster Lightning went at it tooth-and-nail and when it was over at Guerilla Ballpark, the winner was the Cucarachas.

They put away Lancaster 11-2 to cinch the series and won the right to move onto the Round 2.

For his fine play, even in a losing effort, Lancaster third baseman Pedro Castillo was given the series Most Valuable Player Award. He hit .474, scored 2 runs and batted in 4 to win the honor.

"It's nice that someone noticed my numbers, but I'd trade it in a heartbeat for a win," he said.

The Rancho Cucamonga Cucarachas will play against the Pine Bluff Man Trolls in the next round. Pine Bluff won their series against the Ft Levenworth Rock Crushers 3 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
