Bearers Score Late, Upend Railbirds, 4-2
Monday, September 29th, 2059
The Reading Railbirds got a superb performance from pitcher Javier García. Still, it wasn't enough to beat St. Paul. The Bearers won the game, 4-2. In spite of the loss, García was named the player of the game. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball. St. Paul's record now stands at 56-77, placing them third in the Frontier Northern.
Had Bobby Richards not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Richards hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Bearers.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Richards told a St. Paul News reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
