Navigators End Baker's Streak Tuesday, June 21st, 2061 Edmonton catcher Philip Baker came into today's game against the Norfolk Navigators on a hot streak. He left on a cold one. The Navigators did their jobs well, beating the Edmonton Trappers 5-1 and holding Baker hitless to snap his 20-game hitting streak. The 23-year-old catcher had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-3, telling reporters only that he "came up short." "What Philip did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Trappers manager . "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 20 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play." This season in 26 games, Baker has hit at a .384 clip with 38 hits, 4 home runs, 18 RBIs and 15 runs scored. |
