Crusade End Ito Streak Friday, May 28th , 2077 Nebraska right fielder Mabuchi Ito came into today's game against the St. Augustine Crusade on a hot streak. He left on a cold one. The Crusade did their jobs well, beating the Nebraska Nomads, 8-5, and holding Ito hitless to snap his 22-game hitting streak. The 23-year-old right fielder had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-3, telling reporters only that he "came up short." "What Mabuchi did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Nomads manager . "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 22 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play." So far this season, Ito has put up a .366 batting average with 53 hits, 5 home runs and 24 RBIs. |
