Waves Move on to Round 2

The Wildwood Waves are one step closer to the Round 3.
The club prevailed 8-7 at Gemstones Ballpark tonight to eliminate the Minneapolis Mud Hens and advance to the Round 2.
The Waves won the series by a 3-1 margin, with catcher and series MVP Fernando Gómez leading the way.
"I'm proud of all the guys," Gómez said. "This was a team effort, not just me."
The Wildwood Waves don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Tulsa Dust Devils - Hell HellFire series. That series is tied at 2 games apiece. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.

Greyhounds Win Round 1

The Granville Greyhounds appear poised to make a serious run at the Round 3 after a convincing sweep over the Olympic River Swimmers in the Round 1.
It's now on to the Round 2 for Granville, who won the final game 7-1 and took the series 3-0.
"Everyone's doing their part and things are falling into place," said Granville center fielder Chad Cunningham, who was named series MVP. "It feels like a special year."
For the series, Cunningham hit .556 with a .667 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 2 runs.
The Granville Greyhounds don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Saskatoon Legends - Jackson Hole Bucks series. That series is tied at 1 game each. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.

Olympic Hopeless Against Cortéz

Granville Greyhounds left-hander Eduardo Cortéz used his full arsenal to shoot down the Olympic River Swimmers, 6-0. All day long, he exhibited fine command of all his pitches, giving up 1 walk and striking out 9. Cortéz allowed 2 hits in the victory.
"It felt like my catcher and I were on the same page all day, and Olympic was on a way, way different page," Cortéz said.
This season, Cortéz has compiled a 14-2 mark with a 3.20 ERA.
