Meléndez Bangs Out 5 Base Hits

All game long, Crab Apple's Jesús Meléndez was rattling the walls at Eagles Ballpark and banging out base hits against the East St. Louis Eagles. When the dust finally settled on the diamond, he had a 5-hit day and the Sluggers had a win, 6-5.
Speaking with reporters after his standout performance, the 22-year-old left fielder said, "Get 5 hits, win a ballgame, it's nice. I could get used to this."
Jesús Meléndez singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, walked in the 8th, singled in the 10th and singled in the 11th.
In his 2075 season totals, Meléndez has 3 home runs, .385 BA, .431 OBP, 10 RBIs and 10 runs scored.

Granville Beats Lexington as Kumatani Throws 7-0 Shutout

Katsuyuki Kumatani hurled nothing but zeros at the Lexington Platinum in an impressive outing at Spears Ballpark. The Granville pitcher allowed 2 hits, fanned 4, and walked 3 in blanking Lexington , 7-0.
"There were a lot of frustrated guys walking back to the dugout," Lexington manager said. "Not a fun day."
Checking out his stats for the season, Kumatani has registered 5 wins and 2 losses in 9 starts, posted a 3.69 ERA, and struck out 44 batters in 46.1 innings.

Bryant Smacks 5 Hits for River Swimmers

Geoff Bryant knows as well as anyone that in baseball, the biggest contracts go to the biggest hitters. At Naturals Ballpark, he made his case to be considered among that group.
The 22-year-old center fielder hammered 5 hits in 6 chances, though the remarkable effort came even as his Olympic River Swimmers fell, 9-8, to the Saskatoon Legends.
"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," Legends manager told BNN sportswriters after the game. "Thankfully, we were able to do enough elsewhere that Bryant wasn't the difference."
Geoff Bryant flied out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 6th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th and singled in the 10th.
So far this year, Bryant is batting .338 with 1 home run and 11 RBIs.
