Oliver Goes Deep 3 Times
Wednesday, July 12th , 2073
It was a good day for the Summit County Soap Box Derby and an exceptional one for William Oliver. The 19-year-old third baseman sent three bombs out of the park to help the Soap Box Derby beat the East St. Louis Eagles, 14-7, at Ballpark of Stockton.
"When you're in the zone, the game really slows down," Oliver said when asked about his performance later. "I couldn't even tell you what pitches were thrown. Today feels great, but it is a long season and tomorrow is another day."
For the day, he scored 3 times, drove in 9 runs and smacked 3 hits in 6 at-bats.
William Oliver grounded out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Jeffery Morrow in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Jim Unknown in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 6th and flied out in the 8th.
So far this season, Oliver has put up a .316 batting average with 98 hits, 17 home runs and 57 RBIs.
