Ramos Slaps 5 Hits
Monday, July 9th, 2063
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-7 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Rafael Ramos, it came around today.
The 21-year-old shortstop scattered hits all over Field of the Champs to pace the Crab Apple Sluggers to a 18-2 victory over the Jackson Hole Bucks.
Jackson Hole skipper told reporters in the press room that "Ramos deserves a hat-tip."
"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Ramos hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."
Rafael Ramos singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Jon Gilmore in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th, grounded out in the 8th and flied out in the 8th.
Looking at his present stats, Ramos has compiled a .326 batting average in 36 games with a .375 on-base percentage, while hitting 2 home runs and driving in 18 runs.
