Iwamoto Goes on Rampage Against Blaze Thursday, July 24th , 2070 A jubilant Kiyoshi Iwamoto joined the postgame press conference at Steelhawks Ballpark today to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Buena Vista Blaze pitching staff he had just vanquished. "It may not have looked like it," said the Wildwood Waves first baseman, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different." That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-6 hitting performance, which led the Waves to a 19-6 win. "He made it look easy," said , manager of the Blaze. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously." Kiyoshi Iwamoto singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, was hit by a pitch in the 5th, singled in the 7th, flied out in the 9th, hit an RBI single in the 10th, walked in the 11th and hit a two-run single in the 11th. Thus far this season in 75 games Iwamoto is batting .335 with 15 home runs, 47 RBIs and 44 runs scored. He has 70 hits in 209 at-bats. View Boxscore |
