3-HR Binge for Walker Against Buffalo Saturday, June 30th , 2074 It's a rare event when a player hits three homers in a game and rarer still when he does it and loses. It happened at Ballpark of Louisville, as Sam Walker of the Louisville Slashers unloaded three times against the Buffalo Officers but was still bumped off, 12-10, by the Officers. "We were lucky to win today," said Buffalo skipper . "You can't give up that many home runs and expect to win on a regular basis." For the game, the Louisville catcher had 5 hits in 6 at-bats, scored 3 times, and drove in 3. Walker spoke to the writers in the postgame press room with mixed feelings, saying he was sad to lose but happy to be seeing the ball well. "I was just trying to swing early and often to give myself a chance," he said. "I let the pitcher supply all the power and try to figure out how to get the bat on the ball." Sam Walker was hit by a pitch in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off George Wood in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Santiago Soto in the 7th, struck out in the 8th, hit a solo-shot off Uhi Pomgia in the 11th and doubled in the 12th. This season, Walker is batting .309 with 17 hits, 6 home runs, 9 RBIs, .449 OBP and has scored 13 runs. |
