Bad Boy Brawlers Suspended 4 Games Monday, July 14th, 2059 Sometimes on the baseball diamond disparaging words are uttered in anger and lead to more than what the players bargained for. That's what happened at yesterday's Buffalo Officers-Louisville Slashers game at Officers Ballpark. What started off as a war of words ended up a tag team match as both clubs rushed on the field to defend their honor. When the umpires sorted it all out, they ejected Buffalo's José Reyes and Louisville's Martín Martínez from the game for their roles in starting the melee. Today the players were notified by the league office that they had been suspended 4 games for violating league rules. Reyes is batting at a .296 pace this season, picking up 32 hits in 108 at-bats with 3 home runs, 27 RBIs and 19 runs scored. In 10 relief appearances in 2059, Martínez has nailed down the victory 0 times for his club. In 11.1 innings he has fanned 16 batters and walked 8. His won-lost record is 2-0 with a 3.97 ERA. |
