Newitt Slams 3 Deep for Woodmere Monday, July 5th , 2077 It was a terrific day for Rupert Newitt, who ripped three home runs at Jailbreakers Ballpark, and a disappointing one for the Woodmere Starfires who, nevertheless, dropped the game, 16-10, to the Orlando Jailbreakers. "He was instant offense," Woodmere skipper said. "Rupert really put on a show. He more than did his part. We just didn't come through with hits at the right time to win the game." For the day, Newitt collected 3 hits in 4 at-bats, scored 4 runs and had 5 RBIs. In the postgame press conference he told the reporters he has always liked to hit at Jailbreakers Ballpark. "I got some good pitches to hit and turned on them real good," he said. Rupert Newitt hit a solo-shot off Warren O'Brien in the 1st, grounded out in the 4th, walked in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Jorge Esparza in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Adrien Even in the 8th. At the moment, Newitt is hitting .404 with 5 home runs and 22 RBIs. He has played in 16 games and scored 18 times. |
