Hits Galore: Guthrie Drills 5 Hits Sunday, June 28th , 2065 Even as a kid, Lee Guthrie said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Buffalos Ballpark today, Guthrie showed how well he learned that lesson. The 25-year-old second baseman had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the Dollar Corner Buffalos, helping his team knock off the Bakersfield Firewalkers by a score of 12-2. "They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did today." Lee Guthrie singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Ric Thomas in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 8th. So far this season Guthrie is hitting .280 with 1 home run.
