Thursday, September 15th , 2072
Roberto Zúñiga of the Greensboro Gappers went on a hitting spree against the Durham Steers pitching staff, racking up 5 hits in 6 at-bats, but to no avail -- the Steers put a damper on his day and prevailed, 20-12, over the Gappers.
"It was a heck of a day and I was kind of looking forward to a better ending than that," he said later.
Roberto Zúñiga hit a three-run home run off Bob Escamilla in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, struck out in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Tony Cummins in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This season, Zúñiga has banged out 69 hits in 198 at-bats for a .348 average with 17 home runs. He is getting on base at a .508 pace and his totals also include 61 RBIs and 67 runs scored.
