League Punishes Pair for Fighting Thursday, August 17th , 2073 Yesterday at Ballpark of Holliday Johnny Jones and Senzo Kouki got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Córdoba Sky Sox and Holliday Jackets. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Jones will have to sit out 5 while Kouki would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. In 41 games Jones is hitting .282 this season with 24 hits, 4 home runs, 24 RBIs, 38 walks, .512 OBP and has scored 22 runs. So far this season, Kouki has logged a 0-8 record with a 13.74 ERA. He has started 10 games, hurled 38 innings and registered 36 strikeouts and 41 walks. |
