Doss and Matsumoto Suspended for Free-for-All Saturday, August 10th , 2069 Yesterday at Mont Vernon Grounds Nelson Doss and Naofumi Matsumoto got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Mont Vernon Gladiators and Sheboygan Jazz. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Doss will have to sit out 5 while Matsumoto would be given a 3-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. In his stats this season, Doss has posted a batting average of .372 with 35 hits in 94 at-bats, 5 home runs and 25 RBIs. He has also scored 24 runs, walked 19 times and compiled a .492 OBP.
