CNL Gives #1 Pitcher Award Monday, September 29th , 2070 This past season was very special for César Romero of the Greensboro Gappers. He picked up 8 wins against only 2 losses and was chosen the winner of the 2070 Colonial League Rookie Diamond Heater Award. The 24-year-old Gappers ace fashioned a fine 2.41 ERA in 12 starts. He threw 78.1 innings, gave up 73 hits, 21 walks and held opponents to a .243 average. Romero fanned 87 batters this season. He received 22 first place votes out of a possible 28. Doug Benson of the Holliday Jackets finished second in voting with 6 first place votes, while Troy Smith of the Córdoba Sky Sox finished third.
