Cheesesteaks Drop Cuervo, 5-3
|
Philadelphia right-hander Beetlejuice Bettlejuice pitched his team to victory over the San Jose Cuervo at Welsh Field. The final score was 5-3. Bettlejuice, now 13-6, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The Cheesesteaks have an impressive 97-62 record.
Steve Baker had a big 2-run home run for the Cheesesteaks in the top of the second inning. With Philadelphia leading 3-0 and a runner on 3rd, he sized up a slider from top prospect Denny Brandon and punished it. The result was his 23rd home run of the season, which put the Cheesesteaks on top, 5-0.
"Beetlejuice executed his pitches at a high level," said Philadelphia manager Joey Santangelo.
